Product Selection and Application
• Does the Flexi-Flor® line carry solid colors?
Yes. We have solid black and chocolate brown available in our sheet rubber and rubber tile product. Solid color sheet flooring is intended for use as feature strips, games lines, etc. Our stair treads are also available in ten coordinating solid colors that make up our Color Series III.

• Does R.C.A. provide assistance in floor layout with regard to type of product to utilize in my building?
Yes, we have technical service experts with a combined 35+ years of commercial flooring experience that can advise you on the best utilization of our products in your building.

• What is the maximum width of Flexi-Flor® sheet rubber flooring?
All colors can be made up to 41" wide.

• Why is Flexi-Flor not to be used in kitchens?
Grease and oils, which are animal fat or petroleum based, will cause rubber to deteriorate.

• Can I use R.C.A. Rubber flooring on a boat or around a swimming pool?
We do not recommend the use of Flexi-Flor® Rubber Flooring products around high moisture areas. View our Sports Series for a line of products that can be used around swimming pools, locker rooms and the like.

• Can rubber flooring be used in a new car showroom?
Car tires contain an amount of oils that could soften or stain rubber flooring. If you would like to place rubber flooring in a new car showroom, you may want to consider laying a protective surface under the tires when the car is placed.

• We are installing rubber flooring in a multi-purpose/gymnasium. Can we paint the game lines on the surface?
Although there are some paints which can be used on rubber, they wear off quickly. The installation of game lines as part of the rubber floor is an attractive and permanent solution.

• Is Flexi-Flor® slippery when wet?
Almost all resilient flooring can be slick if wet. We suggest the use of "walk off" mats near entrances to remove/reduce snow, water and dirt from shoes.

• Is Flexi-Flor® a "green" product?
More than 50% of the ingredients in rubber flooring are natural. Also, rubber flooring's inherent longevity means the floor is not replaced as often as "temporary" floors and thus reduces waste because the old material is added to land fills less frequently. With no finish maintenance, fewer chemicals (polishes, waxes, dressings) enter the waste system.

• How can I get Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on your products?
All available MSDS documents can be found in our Technical Resource Center on this website.

• Can I still get the same color flooring as was originally placed in my building?
Yes! We can re-create any retired color as well as color match from a sample piece of flooring (subject to "Dyelot" variations). Minimum order quantities are required for custom colors. Please contact a customer service representative for more details.

Installing Flexi-Flor® products
• When should I use #5 Epoxy and when should I use #56 Latex?
#5 Epoxy is a chemical reaction adhesive. It should be used for all Target® tile and treads as well as in areas where moisture could be an issue and in sterile applications such as operating suites. It must be used on metal and can be used on wood. #56 Latex adhesive can be used on clean concrete, clean wood and most other flooring and tread applications where the use of epoxy is not required.

• What are the installation instructions for Flexi-Flor® products?
A recommended installation guide can be found in our Technical Resource Center. Click on the ?Flexi-Flor® General Installation Instructions? heading.

• Can this material be installed outside?
No. RCA Rubber products are warranted and intended for inside use.

• Can I install sheet rubber by "under scribing?"
Over lapping and double cutting is the only installation method approved.

• Why must I use epoxy adhesive on Target® tile and treads?
The chemicals used to obtain the low flame spread rating will, over time, cause latex adhesive to fail.

• Are seams "welded" when installing Flexi-Flor®?
Because of the Flexi-Flor® sheet rubber's excellent dimensional stability, "welding" to overcome shrinkage is not required. For areas where seams must be impervious to moisture, use #5 epoxy adhesive.

• Why are the stair treads and risers I received longer than I ordered them?
We mold the stair treads and risers slightly longer than the required length to allow cutting to fit any imperfection (no matter how slight) in a stairway.

• Can I install Flexi-Flor® directly over our existing resilient flooring?
We do not recommend Flexi-Flor® installations over other floor coverings. This type of installation is also not covered under our warranty.
